Indulge in a complete cooking adventure at the cooking school at La Torre, the historic castle located 10kms from the historic center of Florence, Italy. The week-long culinary adventure will help you explore the refined tastes of Tuscany and its traditional techniques as well as immersing you into the culture of Tuscan Lifestyle, it is meant to be a complete experience . Your accommodations are in the restored villas on the estate of the Villa Pandolfini. We provide a large basket for each villa with food items for the times you are not at a restaurant or bar or class.

During the classes there is a introductory to the history of Tuscan diet, their typical dishes, breads, seasonal foods and those used by peasants, changes in Tuscan cuisine from the medieval times till date. Enjoy each day by preparing a complete five course meal that comprise pastas, soups, meat, fish and vegetables. Tuscan cuisine is highly seasonal. The recipes may vary according to the availability of the ingredients according to the season. A full sit down meal is served at the end of each class with the group and the chef, wine and coffee are in included.

You will also be given a 150 page cookbook of Tuscan recipes and a apron.

Schedules by Day

These days may be varied depending on the season , the clases sometimes are changed to a pm class to give you more time to have in the day to explore. We may also swap the days around .

Saturday
The group of participants will arrive at the estate in the afternoon . Once they settle into their accommodation, we will go through the program for the week. There is time then to refresh and relax for a while. The group will enjoy a welcome dinner and also meet the hosts and chefs. The dinner would have the seasonal and traditional Tuscan delights accompanied by the estate’s wine.


Sunday


A tour to Southern Tuscany will be held that will help you to discover the culture and history of the people there. All meals are included in this day.


Highlights


*Start at the local caffe for a Tuscan breakfast of freshly made pastries and cappucino
*Visit medieval villages and castles
*Exciting drives via Chianti valleys, Sienese Crete, enticing view of Val d’Orcia
*Visit vineyards of noble families and taste wines, olive oil, salami and cheese
*3 course Lunch in a local trattoria and time to explore Montalcino
*Visit the village of Pienza and shop for handicrafts, local produce
*Visit to pecorino cheese making farm or olive oil mill - seasonal
*Back for a local pizza dinner


Monday

(Cooking day 1 from 10.00 am to 3.00 pm)

The participants will prepare the lunch with the help of the expert chefs of the cooking school, learning how to make each recipe in the process. After lunch they are free to relax by the pool go for a walk on one of the trails , go into Florence or can choose an additional tour/activity mentioned in the Additional Activities. Have some wine and goodies from your basket with some of your new cooking friends!

Tuesday

(Cooking day 2 from 9.30 am to 2.30 pm)

The second day’s cooking class will end with the lunch prepared by the participants. After lunch you can either relax or opt for one of the Additional Activities in the program. The additional program has to be paid separately.

Example Tour - Chianti and San Gimignano

*Hear a butcher reciting ‘Dante’
*Spectacular view of San Gimignano
*Enjoy a gelato or caffe in the piazza and people watch before heading back home

Wednesday


All meals included

Trip to Florence for a historic tour and Mercato Centrale at 9 am followed by lunch and other places in Florence.

*Guide will meet you to take you on a walking historic tour of the ancient city center
*coffee standing as a Florentine
*Visit to multilevel marketplace abundant with fresh local produce
*Lunch with local Florentines in the piazza of the central food markets
*Shopping time or museums visits in the afternoon
*Taste world famous gelato, walk along the stone streets or have a aperativo at a landmark bar
*Dinner with hosts at a historical restaurant of Florence or in the summer months on the Florentine hills al fresco

Thursday

(Cooking day 3 from 10.00 am to 3.00 pm)

The participants will prepare an elaborate lunch, and in the meanwhile learn a lot of techniques applied in preparing them. They can be free in the afternoon or may opt for an additional seasonal activity like the Truffle Hunting that is offered in the Additional Activities Program.
If you can eat more then yo can stroll down to the local restaurant/ pizzeria for a light dinner after your big lunch!

Friday

(Cooking day 4 and an excursion)

All meals included

Start at the local caffe for a Tuscan breakfast of freshly made pastries and cappucino

*Visit to a Ceramics factory where the local people have made ceramics for centuries
witness the skills of this art from the start to the hand painting and firing.
*Spectacular display of handicraft items, meet skilled craftsmen
*Visit to the historically significant Medici Villa , tour of the inside of the villa – Lorenzo the Magnificent's favourite!
*Lunch at Artimino village in a superb restaurant with magnificent views
* Cooking session begins at 5.00 pm
* Dinner 8.00 pm

The participants will prepare a farewell dinner for the entire group in this session. The class will end with the distribution of ‘Certificate of Attendance’ to all the participants and with a surprise.

Participation Fee


Participants to the cooking class will have to pay € 2300* that will include accommodation, both welcome and farewell dinners at La Torre, trip to Florence, Southern Tuscany tour and breakfast, wine tasting, lunch, pizza dinner, cooking lessons, local tour to ceramics & Artimino, an apron, a recipe book and all taxes.

*This is for double occupancy. Single supplements are charged € 300 extra per week.*

Non-participation Fee


Non-participants will have to pay € 1900** that will include both welcome and farewell dinners, Florence central market trip and lunch, Southern Tuscany Tour and breakfast, wine tasting, lunch, pizza dinner, visit to local market, lunch at Artimino and all taxes.

**This is for double occupancy. Single supplements are charged € 300 extra per week.**
